Carmelita Wood

Carmelita Wood was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is a member of Union Grove Baptist church in Keswick, Virginia, baptized at her family church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, under then the Reverend R. A. Johnson. She graduated from Lane High School 1974 and attended one semester at national business college until getting a job at UVA. Carmelita worked there for 35-1/2 years. Now, she is retired and working part-time at ACAC Physical Therapy as a receptionist. Carmelita is the current president of the Fifeville Neighborhood Association, Vice Chair of the Piedmont Community Land Trust, on the board of AHIP and Charlottesville Low Income Housing Coalition, and a past board member of Abundant Life Ministries.
