Anisha Singh

Anisha Singh is the Co-Deputy Director of Advocacy at the Legal Aid Justice Center, where she sets strategic direction for the organization’s impact advocacy work, supervises the leaders of our civil rights and racial justice, housing and consumer justice, and immigration justice policy teams, and oversees the organization’s litigation, policy, and organizing divisions.

With over a decade of experience in public interest and social justice work, Anisha brings a dynamic background rooted in grassroots organizing and legal advocacy. Her expertise spans a wide range of issues, including immigration, gun violence prevention, AAPI engagement, race and ethnicity, religious rights, employment discrimination, reproductive healthcare, and civil rights.

Before joining LAJC, Anisha served in the Biden-Harris Administration as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division. In this role, she advised the agency’s leadership on strategic priorities, communications, and outreach initiatives.

Previously, Anisha was the Executive Director of the Sikh Coalition, the largest Sikh civil rights organization in the United States. There, she led day-to-day operations and guided the organization’s strategic direction across its advocacy, legal, education, community development, and media programs.

Anisha has also held key leadership roles at Planned Parenthood Federation of America as Director of Judiciary and Democracy Affairs, where she spearheaded courts and democracy reform initiatives, and at the Center for American Progress, where she served as Senior Organizing Director for Generation Progress. In that capacity, she developed national organizing strategies to elevate youth voices in policy campaigns and built infrastructure to train and mobilize young activists nationwide. Earlier at CAP, she was Campaign Manager for Legal Progress, leading grassroots efforts to advocate for a diverse and representative judiciary.

Anisha holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in Political Science and Communication Studies from Florida State University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., and Maryland. In 2016, she was honored on Forbes‘ “30 Under 30” list for Law and Policy.
