Our communities will be healthier and stronger if we spend our money on programs that keep people out of jail such as mental health services, restorative justice programs, and other support services rather than just making the jail nicer. The jail population has been steadily decreasing, and we need to continue that trend – not put millions of dollars towards incarceration. It’s clear that the jail needs some updates, but this price tag is far too much!

Local government wants to go $73 million into debt to rebuild the jail, but who’s going to have to pay that back over time, with interest? Local taxpayers, including us!
