Joanna Suyes

A member of the Virginia and D.C. Bars, Joanna L. Suyes founded Suyes Law, PLLC, in 2023 where she focuses her practice on Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income claims. Joanna graduated from the College of William and Mary, received her M. Div. from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, and earned her J. D. cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law.
A past chair of the Virginia State Bar’s Committee on Access to Legal Services, Joanna has co-authored articles and presented seminars encouraging attorneys to help close the justice gap. She served as president of the board of directors of the Virginia Poverty Law Center and is a member of the board of directors of CancerLINC from whom she received its 2019 Krista Latshaw Pro Bono award in recognition of her volunteer service to cancer patients in Central Virginia.
In their spare time, Joanna and her husband Jimmy are Washington Commanders season-ticket holders and enjoy cooking, traveling, and spending time in Boston with their children and grandson.
