We advise individuals through our Charlottesville office on eligibility for public benefits and represent clients whose benefits are wrongfully denied, terminated, reduced, or otherwise placed at risk.

Our work helps clients obtain and keep cash benefits, food assistance, health coverage, and other necessities of life. We help families access and retain cash benefits (SSDI/SSDI/SSA/Widow or Survivor benefits, TANF), Food Assistance (SNAP, WIC), and Health Coverage (Medicaid, ACA/Obamacare).  In addition, the Legal Aid Justice Center seeks to identify systemic issues that prevent our clients and communities from accessing needed economic and health resources and reforming those systems.

Additionally, our office provides assistance year-round with signing up for or renewing ACA marketplace (Obamacare) health plans.
