Kenneth Hunter

Kenneth Hunter is a Senior Organizer with the Legal Aid Justice Center, where he advocates for policies that advance justice, expand opportunity, and strengthen communities impacted by the criminal legal system. As a directly impacted leader, Kenneth brings both lived experience and years of organizing expertise to campaigns focused on systemic reform and community-led solutions.

Before joining LAJC, Kenneth served as the Higher Education in Prison Organizer for the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, where he helped build statewide partnerships to expand access to higher education for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. He has also held leadership roles with numerous advocacy organizations, including Ignite Justice, the Prisoner’s Rights Clinic, Interfaith Action for Human Rights, Unlock the Box, and the Public Education Steering Committee.

An accomplished public speaker and artist, Kenneth is recognized across Virginia for using storytelling, spoken word, and community engagement to elevate the voices of directly impacted people and inspire meaningful policy change.
