Patrick is a Staff Attorney for the Health Justice and Public Benefits Program. He started his legal career as a trial attorney at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, where he represented youths accused of felony offenses. Patrick was raised in San Ramon, California and is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Yale Law School. Prior to law school, Patrick was a research assistant at the Brookings Institution, writing on topics related to the labor market and the social safety net. His interests center around harm reduction, restorative justice, and abolition.
