The JustChildren program operates from the Legal Aid Justice Center offices in Charlottesville, Richmond and Petersburg to improve Virginia’s public education, juvenile justice, and foster care systems. We use direct representation, education and organizing outreach, and state-level advocacy to achieve positive outcomes for our clients. With innovative approaches, the attorneys and community educators on the JustChildren team are successfully addressing many of the systemic problems that are roadblocks for these children to get out of poverty.
As the advocates for these children, JustChildren works to
build the concentric circles of care that surround each child. We assist the family seeking educational equity for its chidren; we work with local groups to enhance the community’s ability to advocate for its children; and we reach out to state and national leaders who have the power to improve conditions for the Commonwealth’s children who are most in need. Read more about JustChildren's statewide accomplishments in its first nine years.

JustChildren administers the Alliance for Virginia's Students website, which is a powerful tool in this statewide advocacy. Visit this site to join our advocacy network and let your voice be heard by decision makers at the local, state and national level.
