Antes de incorporarse al LAJC fue becaria pro bono en Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP y en la Sociedad de Ayuda Jur\u00eddica de Virginia Central. En ese trabajo, represent\u00f3 a inquilinos en casos de desahucio y en casos afirmativos contra sus caseros. Tambi\u00e9n represent\u00f3 a clientes en asuntos de derecho de familia. Antes de incorporarse a ese puesto, Michaela trabaj\u00f3 como asistente jur\u00eddica de verano en el Legal Aid Justice Center de Virginia del Norte, donde apoy\u00f3 los derechos de los inmigrantes a trav\u00e9s de litigios federales, solicitudes de visado y asesoramiento en asuntos jur\u00eddicos civiles. Michaela tambi\u00e9n trabaj\u00f3 como asistente jur\u00eddica en el National Housing Law Project de San Francisco (California) y en el East Bay Community Law Center de Berkeley (California). Antes de estudiar Derecho, Michaela trabaj\u00f3 durante cinco a\u00f1os en pol\u00edtica, pol\u00edtica p\u00fablica, consultor\u00eda de organizaciones sin \u00e1nimo de lucro y gesti\u00f3n de casos.
