Vivi\u00f3 en el extranjero la mayor parte de sus 20 a\u00f1os, aprendiendo sobre los poderes y el control que ejercen las fronteras sobre la libertad humana. Obtuvo un m\u00e1ster en la London School of Economics antes de asistir a la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Texas, donde se centr\u00f3 en inmigraci\u00f3n y defensa penal. Despu\u00e9s de estudiar Derecho, realiz\u00f3 una beca en Ayuda y trabaj\u00f3 durante cuatro a\u00f1os en la Coalici\u00f3n por los Derechos de los Inmigrantes de la Zona Capital (CAIR), ejerciendo la defensa de los detenidos expulsados. Desde 2019, Elizabeth tambi\u00e9n ha sido profesora adjunta en la Facultad de Derecho George Mason, ense\u00f1ando derecho de asilo y refugio. A Elizabeth le gusta nadar, bailar, correr y leer.
