RISE para la Juventud es una campa\u00f1a no partidista en apoyo de alternativas comunitarias al encarcelamiento juvenil. Desde su lanzamiento en 2015, RISE ha sido una voz activa e influyente a favor de la reforma de la justicia juvenil en Virginia. Situando el activismo juvenil en el centro de sus esfuerzos, la campa\u00f1a ha defendido con \u00e9xito tanto el cierre del Centro Penitenciario Juvenil de Beaumont como la reinversi\u00f3n de los fondos utilizados para el funcionamiento de ese centro en servicios comunitarios, al tiempo que se opone a la construcci\u00f3n de nuevas prisiones juveniles. Valerie Slater, Coordinadora de la Campa\u00f1a RISE for Youth y reciente becaria del Instituto de Liderazgo en Justicia Juvenil de la Red Nacional de Justicia Juvenil, tomar\u00e1 el tim\u00f3n como Directora Ejecutiva de la nueva organizaci\u00f3n, con el apoyo de los organizadores de justicia juvenil Rebecca Keel como Directora de Pol\u00edtica y James Braxton como Director de Compromiso Estrat\u00e9gico.    <\/p>\n<p>Durante la transici\u00f3n, RISE funcionar\u00e1 bajo patrocinio fiscal hasta que se incorpore el n\u00facleo de la campa\u00f1a. La directora ejecutiva del LAJC, Mary Bauer, declar\u00f3: \u00abEstamos encantados de que RISE haya crecido hasta el punto de que esta transici\u00f3n sea posible. La campa\u00f1a ha logrado victorias sin precedentes lideradas por j\u00f3venes en la reforma de la justicia juvenil durante los \u00faltimos tres a\u00f1os. Es profundamente gratificante ver que esta inversi\u00f3n se traduce en la creaci\u00f3n de un nuevo activo comunitario sostenible.\u00bb <\/p>\n<p>Tras la transici\u00f3n al patrocinio fiscal, RISE for Youth seguir\u00e1 implicando a miembros de la comunidad y a j\u00f3venes implicados en la justicia para planificar la siguiente fase de su labor de defensa de la justicia juvenil. La Sra. Slater explic\u00f3: \u00abA\u00f1os de compromiso con la comunidad, de educaci\u00f3n y activaci\u00f3n de aliados, y de defensa legislativa a nivel local y estatal han contribuido a poner las voces de nuestras comunidades en primera l\u00ednea, haciendo que se vea, se oiga y se tenga en cuenta nuestra oposici\u00f3n al anticuado modelo de prisi\u00f3n juvenil y nuestro apoyo a las alternativas basadas en la comunidad. Este pr\u00f3ximo paso ayudar\u00e1 a RISE for Youth a crecer y adaptarse para permitir una colaboraci\u00f3n comunitaria a\u00fan mayor en nuestro trabajo.\u00bb <\/p>\n<p>Tras la transici\u00f3n, el LAJC seguir\u00e1 impulsando la reforma de la justicia de menores en Virginia. Rachael Deane, Directora Jur\u00eddica del Programa JustChildren, declar\u00f3: \u00abJustChildren tiene una trayectoria de veinte a\u00f1os de exitosa defensa en nombre de los j\u00f3venes con bajos ingresos e implicados en la justicia.
