La demanda argumentaba que los ni\u00f1os y las familias inmigrantes tienen derecho constitucional a estar juntos y a no estar bajo custodia del gobierno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El 29 de agosto de 2023, el Tribunal de Distrito de EE.UU. para el Distrito Este de Virginia concedi\u00f3 a los demandados del gobierno un juicio sumario, d\u00e1ndole al gobierno una victoria en los libros, pero por la mejor de las razones: en respuesta a nuestra demanda y a otras en todo el pa\u00eds, el gobierno hab\u00eda arreglado en gran medida los problemas planteados en la demanda desde que la presentamos. El resultado: muchos menos retrasos en la uni\u00f3n de los ni\u00f1os inmigrantes con sus familiares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El objetivo de este tipo de litigios de impacto es cambiar la pol\u00edtica y la pr\u00e1ctica, y aunque el gobierno puede haber prevalecido t\u00e9cnicamente aqu\u00ed, es s\u00f3lo porque nuestros esfuerzos les hicieron cambiar la forma en que funciona el sistema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este caso valida lo que nuestras comunidades entienden a un nivel profundo: que las familias est\u00e1n unidas, y que la concepci\u00f3n de familia va m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la mera relaci\u00f3n entre padres e hijos.
