En respuesta, la UVA cre\u00f3 un consejo para estudiar la cuesti\u00f3n y formular recomendaciones. Nuestro personal y los representantes de la Junta en ese consejo presionaron con fuerza a favor de una reforma transformadora, incluso argumentando en contra de la interpretaci\u00f3n jur\u00eddica que UVA Health estaba utilizando para justificar su agresividad en la persecuci\u00f3n de todas las deudas.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2020, esos esfuerzos dieron sus frutos cuando la UVA anunci\u00f3 que adoptaba esencialmente todas las recomendaciones del consejo para reformar sus sistemas de ayuda financiera, facturaci\u00f3n y cobros. La UVA tambi\u00e9n liber\u00f3 casi todos los embargos contra las viviendas de los pacientes y dej\u00f3 casi por completo de demandar a los pacientes por deudas m\u00e9dicas.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para ilustrar el impacto: En el ejercicio 20, la UVA dict\u00f3 2.164 sentencias contra pacientes por un total de 7.171.166,10 d\u00f3lares.
