In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, LAJC has shifted nearly all of our capacity toward protecting the lives of Virginia’s low-income communities through a combination of individual representation, systemic advocacy, community organizing, and community education.
We are fighting for the release of people held hostage in carceral institutions. We are fighting for greater protections for farmworkers and poultry processors. We’re helping individuals navigate housing, healthcare, unemployment insurance, and education while pushing on those systems to work better and serve more people. We’re also ramping up to protect consumers and tenants when the courts re-open.
We’re doing everything we can to protect the lives and livelihoods of low-income Virginians.
